Research Infrastructure

The Organic RDD program is a Danish program (Ministry of Food, Agriculture and Fisheries) aiming at funding Danish projects within Organic farming and food systems. Funded projects must include a research part and the results be focused on the end-user through multi-actor approach or LL.

Aim

ICROFS contributes to further development of a market-driven and competitive organic sector and thereby supports a continuous growth in the Danish organic sector. ICROFS supports organic research projects from many different institutions and industries.  

Short background information

ICROFS, International Centre for Research in Organic Food Systems, has existed since 1996. ICROFS contributes to coordinate, manage and implement strategic and application-oriented research of high quality. The research supports the development of new solutions and adjustments in the production, which can move the Danish organic sector to constant higher sustainability, increased productivity and better economy. ICROFS stands for player-driven research and innovation, where researchers, farmers, advisors and other professional profiles are collaborating to develop the sector with useful solutions and opportunities, which strengthens organic farming and food systems.

Funding

ICROFS is appointed and financially supported by the Ministry of Food, Agriculture and Fisheries of Denmark.

Activities

  • Coordinating the Org RDD program
  • Coordinating the European ERA-NET Core Organic
  • Participate as partners in research projects: communication, dissemination and knowledge synthesis. Project management
  • ICROFS run the open access archive Organic Eprints (including Germany and Switzerland)
  • Produces knowledge synthesis about organic farming

Methods, stakeholder engagements and tools

The Organic RDD program focuses on actor driven research by use of multi-actor approach org LL. The funded projects must include end-users and must include actors from the whole value chain from the planning phase.

  • ICROFS has coordinated Danish Organic research calls since 1996
  • ICROFS has coordinated the ERA-NET Core Organic since 2004 and has coordinated 6 transnational calls.
