Aarhus University

Aarhus University’s (AU) Department of Agroecology is a leading agriculture research and teaching entity in Denmark. Research is carried out on most aspects of agroecological production processes, including food and farming systems, regulatory aspects, integrated management of weeds, diseases and pests, soil conservation and nutrient management, as well as organic agriculture. The organic sector in Denmark is considerable, and with AU as the home to the International Center for Research on Organic Food Systems (ICROFS), the Department of Agreocology and ICROFS work closely on meeting the research needs of the sector.
Agricultural research in Denmark is responsive to societal demands for environmental sustainability in agricultural production and is characterized by close consultation with farmers and farmer’s organisations, in various forms of open innovation arrangements. The Department of Agroecology and ICROFS are active in this open innovation landscape, as research partners, funders, and as sources of research infrastructure. The department’s PhD programme Agroecology is home to PhD fellows from around the globe, and teaching courses are offered at both Bachelor and Master levels.
The scientific group involved in ALL-Ready consists of leading senior scientists that represent EU and global experience on the interfaces between science, technology and society, sustainability directions in agriculture, natural resources management, integrated farming systems, ecological intensification, organic farming systems, research capacity building; and, strategy and policy support.
